Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

1. What caught my attention of the other photographers black and white photos are the expressions that it has and that it shows. The shadows and what the photo is about catches my eye. Especially when there is people involved.

2. From looking at the photos of the "Great Black and White Photographers part 2"

From the first photo of the woman I see the way she look calm and relaxed in this. The person who took the photo must have saw her beauty and wanted a natural chill looking photograph.
When thinking about this photo I feel peaceful for some reason. Just looking at her makes me feel calm.
When looking at the flower photograph I picture hearing birds chirping and feeling the sun on my skin and the wind blowing on my face.
And so looking at the two photos I picture smelling clean fresh air. Maybe some flowers or Dust depending on where the woman is.

3. I would like to do a Power Point to expose this great artist. Maybe showing his very first photo he's ever taken and gradually show all the photos that he's taken over the course of his year as a professional artist. Like displaying that even professionals had to start off small and have a rough time trying to get the perfect shot at times but then they end up able to catch their dream of making it big and them well known.

Mural Project Preview.

The kind of subjects that I could use to go about the Akins High school mural could be something showing how hard each and every student works to make the grade. Another thing I could do is the fun side that everyone has instead showing the dull and boring side of being here. Like showing everyones not so tense side just the students being corky and having the time of their life.

Showing how fun students can be seems kind of worth it. It's a lot more fun showing how the students have to work hard each and every day seems good to me. I guess since it's showing the differences of everyone but yet we can have fun times and make memories happen together and not being tied down and uptight, Like most students are, we can be able to be ourselves.

The advantages to using the phones camera (depending what phone) can save time and money then actually going out to get a camera to use for  short time period. The disadvantages of using the camera phone is that the camera may be to slow to take the shots and the memory the phone can carry may end up being maxed out and it's kind of a hassle.

Using an SLR camera has the advantage of it being able to take quick photos and you can change the type of lens you are using to something that better suits the situation. The disadvantage to using one of these is that you have to be extremely careful because if the camera lens brakes it is expensive to replace. And you have to make sure all the items that the camera came with is all accounted for.

I think it is better to use the phones camera. It's portable easy to store away for safe keeping and we have our cell phones at the ready to take photos of things that are happening at the moment. And the other thing is that the user will be able to decide what is better to use like the setting on the camera phone. The last thing is that we are more comfortable to use our phones for pictures since we take so many.

Black/white Africa powerpoint response.

The photos from the power point had shown the animals at peace with themselves and showed a side of them that seemed very calm and loving. I loved the photos in the slides. There were a whole lot of different animals that you would usually see react violently but that aren't. There were a lot of emotions the I felt looking through it. Happy, Peaceful, calm. It nearly brought me to tears. (No lie)

The picture of this lions has a lot of feelings that I get by just staring at it. I feel the calm and collected side of the lion and it is relaxing which is kinda cool to see. I love the symbol of pride the lion gives and this is just showing it well to me.

The rule of thirds is used in this photo because it has it on one side of the photo and simplicity because you can tell what the photo is about. There isn't anything random about this photo it's a photo of a lion that is relaxing and the background of the sky makes it pop out more.

The photographer is Nick Brandt. THe type of camera he uses is the Pentax 6711with only two fixed lenses.
His reason for theses photos are that he wants to show the personality of the animals by getting up close. "You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in close."
He hopes to make the expressions of the animals seem more real and tries to get close as possible to better show the animals expressions.
"What I am interested in is showing the animals simply in the state of Being. Before, in the wild at least, they cease to exist. This world is under terrible threat, all of it caused by us. To me, every creature, human or nonhuman, has an equal right to live, and this feeling, this belief that every animal and I are equal, affects me every time I frame an animal in my camera. The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes"

Academic Shoot Reflection.

The hard thing that I had to do was actually try not disturb people and have them look at me while I shoot. Then there was the matter of finding great moments to get a shot, often times I missed great chances of a good take.

I kept in mind of having a nice clean photo so I tried not to move to much even though the object was moving or it was going to notice. Like when I was in the choir room I tried not to make to much noise for the ones who were singing. The way the picture would look to like what kind of view it would be. I had to get down on my knees or stand taller to make it a bit better.

I would make the photos a lot brighter than have them looking dark and all. Maybe I could've chosen better things to take photos of and better positions as well.

I would use the same rules same rooms that I went in  and lastly I would keep my  attitude the same way which is eager and positive.

Rule of thirds seem to be the easiest to spot next time.

The thing that would be hard for me to find would be the balance one. It's kind of hard to find something that is symmetrical when most of the school is trying to be different in my any way so it looks interesting.

I have no misunderstanding with the rules It's all okay for me.

Academics shoot.

Lines
I followed the rule well. Made the picture at an angle so the peoples eyes can travel down the line to the door of success!
The subject was the door that is the start of the students road to success in life. And the door between lessons and the real world.
I think the people can see what my subject is. I tried to make it clear as much.
I would've captured someone actually going in the through the doors but no one was going in or out the door at the time.

Simplicity
I think I did good at this photo of simplicity but it seemed awkward when I was just standing there and the girl didn't seem to like or understand what was going on. But overall it looks good to me.
The subject as you can see is the girl.
I think and hope the viewer knows what my subject is.
I would've maybe have her not to knowing in this photo. It docent look right the way I wanted it to look. I wanted it to look like she is just minding her own business but instead she looks awkward.
Rule of Thirds
This photograph of this rule is fair. It docent look good to me but it looks okay I guess. the hard thing for me to capture the picture was that it was a little to dark and the guy was walking away fast so it doesn't look as good.
The subject is the guy leaving towards the courtyard.
The viewer can see the subject well but since it is dark I can understand that they can't.
I would love to retake this picture again mainly because the poor lighting and to much glare and also the guy looks to far away to me.
Framing
This photo is alright for the framing rule. It shows a group of students working together and enjoying each others company. It was hard to not let them notice me taking the picture because if they saw me and knew that I was taking pictures of them they wouldn't look so natural in the photo they would look tense and awkward.
The subject of this photo would be team work amongst the students in the class.
Hopefully the viewers will know what the subject is by just glancing at the photo.
The thing I would do differently is try to make it more clear and less far away.

Avoiding merges
I think personally this photo shows the rule well. I tried my best to get a few people cut off the photo without noticing me. If they saw they would scatter away from the camera.
The subject here is hard to tell for me but I think if I were to choose on it's be the knowledge filled library here and the books the students are looking at.
I know the viewer will get confused here about what to look for in the subject but hopefully they'll understand the rule.
I wouldn't rally change anything here in this photo it looks like  a good example of avoiding merges.
Balance
I did good on finding balance here. the only thing that is a bit off here is the color of the red block wall that aren't a good example of balance but then again I was shooting the columns not the wall.
The subject was the balance in the number of columns.
The viewer will look at the wall first but will hopefully understand that the columns are the ones balanced
I would possibly choose something more to be in this photo rather than this random looking wall and columns.

Academics photo preview

The Best story

This photo tells me the story of what these kids are doing to help out people that are in need of some help. Giving the homeless food seems to me like the reason behind the cause could be told in this photograph.

Action/Emotion

The girls i this photograph have a happy exciting look on their face.

Fills the frame.
You can see everyone here even the pole that is there. It look like a peaceful gathering that they are all having.

I picked this photo for its emotional value to me and anyone who is close to graduation. It's the most exciting and he most scary Event in our lives and it really is striking.
The rules of photography are line, color, form, texture, rhythm and Unity.

I could take photos like this in the band hall or the theatre and mainly in the Performing arts center.

I'd like to take the photos in the PAC or the classes that are most active.

Get the students as they are performing or are engaged/caught in their work that they are ignoring everyone else but they show their passion for what they do.
